The name Îlot 307 come from the science fiction novel The Immortals by the famous French author René Barjavel. The novel tells the history of India which, after the Second World War, is struck by the virus of immortality. Already dealing with a problem of overpopulation, India calls upon the President of the United States of the time, General Eisenhower, who offer a Pacific refuge where the afflicted can be put in quarantine. The island, known as Îlot 307, become eternal.
